Gemstone Confetti Tags

What I Used:

Clear PVC Plastic [Dunelm £2.99, 1 metre]

Sharpie

Sequins & Beads

Scissors

Hot Glue Gun

Creating these fun tags only requires a few steps but they add a little sparkle to any project.  

I bought some clear pvc fabric from Dunelm [also labelled as table top protector] - it is stronger 

and more flexible than plastic sheets and much easier adapted to this project, but if you can't get 

hold of any, plastic / clear acrylic sheets could be used.  

I created a gemstone template and used this to trace the designs on to the fabric:

I created a 'pocket' by lining three sides of each gemstone with a hot glue gun and adding another layer of the fabric on top, bonding the two layers of fabric.  Spreading the glue over the marked lines and allowing some to spread either side of the line worked best for ensuring a sealed join.
The hot glue gun worked best for me as it was quick, durable and as the glue dries 'solid', it helped create the 3D dimension of the gemstone.  Any other strong, clear glue will also work - just ensure you allow plenty of glue to form the join and allow to dry completely.  Cut the excess of the three glued sides away to check no spaces have been missed:

...then fill with sequins, beads, confetti or anything you like:

Seal the final side and cut away the excess as before.  

I then added a tie to the top of each to create present tags:

...but these could also be used to create cards, keyrings or bag tags, embellishments or decorations:

I was a little bit addicted and plan to make more in various shapes, themes and using
different coloured Sharpies for different effects.

Alternatives:

If you don't own a hot glue gun - here are some alternative ideas:

• Use washi tape as a decorative way to mark the lines of the gemstones as well as hold the two layers of plastic together.
• Clear tape will also work just as well - they wont mask the lines and you could mark the lines in different colours to gain different effects.
• Stitch the two layers together with needle and thread or using a machine - the sequins and beads will be secure and you can use the lines to guide your stitches.
